If you have a variety of interests and want content from multiple sources, using a content curation tool is the answer. The following content curation tools collect, organize, display and analyze content relevant to a particular topic or area of interest.  These tools are also known as news collectors, read later tools and content aggregators.


ContentGems  Tools monitors over 200,000 sources such as news, blog and social media accounts and filters results based on your keywords.  A good way to stay in front of the latest trends results sent to email or through a dashboard.  Integrates with Buffer and Hootsuite, one-click publishing to WordPress.  No charge.

Evernote  Collect, capture and share ideas, news, articles, video, images and audio across mobile and desktop.  Share content with team members, search within content saved.  Very active forum, good for ideas and Q&A.  One free plus two paid programs.

Flipboard   Creates a personalized magazine based on topic, automatically updates as new content becomes available.  Works with all mobile devices and through email, magazines can be a public collaborative effort or private.  Can write and upload articles to your magazines, can also embed a link to your magazine on your website. Advertising program available.   No charge.

Instapaper  A bookmarking service owned by Pinterest that allows you to save written, image or video content to be viewed later.  Can be saved and read on a desktop or any mobile device including Kindles. Offers text-to-speech option for iOS and the Android app only.  No charge.

List.ly  This tool creates lists by curating content by topic.  Lists can be public or private, can be shared, integrates with Zapier, have a voting option and are customizable.  Mobile app and desktop friendly, a free version with sign-up plus two paid options.

Nuzzel  Content your friends and their networks are sharing on Twitter and Facebook are sent to your desktop or app via email newsletter. Integrates with Slack, Instapaper, Pocket and Buffer.  Customize your newsletter, upload contacts from Gmail, smartphones, Linkedin or CSV file.  No charge.

Paper.li  this tool pulls content and news by topic and publishes in newsletter format, can be shared in email, shared via social networks or on web pages.  Subscription widgets available for website embeds and has a bookmarklet to add content on the fly.  Free and Pro plan, integrates with MailChimp.

Pinboard Is a read later tool, sync bookmarks from Twitter, Instapaper and Pocket or uses a bookmarklet when surfing the Web.  Very basic tool,  $11 a year with a three-day trial.

Pocket Find something you want to read or view and save for later with this tool.  Save from desktop, Twitter, Flipboard or Pulse and view later, even offline.  Has an analytics program for publishers, has a free and premium service.  Tip=> Check out their “best of” and “top stories” feature to see the most-saved articles by topic, great for finding trends and influencers.

Post Planner  Tool determines the best time to share content on Facebook, has an image library you can pull pictures from, curates trending content based on keywords and performance.  Target fans from specific locations and demographics have a real-time analytics program behind each account plus status idea engine that provides pre-written updates.  Three paid plans starting at $7 a month.

Quartz  Returns news in a text-like format, you decide if you want more information by tapping the message and opening the story.  Following a company or industry?  Check out the Atlas feature which returns charts and graphs showing company changes. No charge.

Scoop.it    This tool looks for, finds and schedules relevant content to be published on your blogs and websites.  One free, three paid plans.

SmartNews Lets you flip through a lot of trending headlines at once and put into tabs for reading online or off.  Simple and super fast, works on Android or iOS, no charge.

Stack  This UK based social reading app lets you connect with friends and thought leaders to discover personalized content, helpful if you want to follow certain people. Swipe left or right depending on your interest in a story, no charge, works on Android or iOS.
