September 22, 2014 //  by Debra Mastaler

Need a tool to schedule tweets?  Here are nine to pick from:

1.  BufferApp

Overall, the free version is hard to beat, one of my favorites given what it can do. Bookmarklet can be a little buggy now and then, when it is, I delete from my toolbar and re-install. Recommend upgrading if multiple people will use the tool and/or you have multiple accounts.

Offer a free/paid version?  Both
Offer preset time scheduling?  Yes
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  No
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  Yes
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  Yes (Facebook, G+ and LinkedIn on free  version)
Offer an URL shortener?  Yes
Offer analytics?  Yes
Can you tweet from multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously?  No but, paid version allows more than one  person to use service

2.  Future Tweets

A super simple tweet scheduler,  not much to look at but gets the job done and they don’t hound you with email updates.

Offer a free/paid version?  Free
Offer preset time scheduling?  No
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  No
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  No
Offer an URL shortener?  No
Offer analytics?  No
Can you tweet from multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously?  No

3.  GrabInBox

Another basic option for anyone looking to schedule tweets across a handful of platforms.

Offer a free/paid version?  Free
Offer preset time scheduling?  No
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  No
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  Yes Facebook and LinkedIn
Offer an URL shortener?  No
Offer analytics?  Yes
Can you tweet from multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously?  No

4.  LaterBro

Cute name, they do offer a bookmarklet which makes scheduling tweets easy when you find something.

Offer a free/paid version?  Free
Offer preset time scheduling?  No
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  No
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  Yes, Facebook
Offer an URL shortener?  No
Offer analytics?  No
Can you tweet from multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously? No, but you can add more than one account and  switch between them

5.  Pluggio

Features with Pluggio’s free and paid versions are almost the same, paid versions just offers “more”.  For example, with the free version you can send 10 scheduled tweets a day, with lowest paid version you can send 100.

Offer a free/paid version?  Both
Offer preset time scheduling?  Yes
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  Yes
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  Yes, Facebook
Offer an URL shortener?  Yes
Offer analytics?  Yes
Can you tweet from multiple Twitter accounts simultaneously?  Yes

6.  Social Oomph

Offer a free/paid version?  Both plus a third upgrade option
Offer preset time scheduling?  No
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?  Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?  No
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?  Yes with paid version
Offer an URL shortener?  Yes
Offer analytics?  Yes
Can you tweet from multiple accounts simultaneously?  Yes

Schedule and track tweets, track keywords, auto follow, can sort into Twitter lists.  Posts to Facebook and Linkedin, can tweet via email.  Extremely robust tool, it will not disappoint.

7.  Twittimer

Offer a free/paid version?   Both
Offer preset time scheduling?   Yes
Do you have to schedule each tweet individually?   Yes
Does it have iPhone/Android app?   No
Can you post to other platforms at the same time?   No
Offer an URL shortener?   Yes with paid option
Offer analytics?   Yes with paid option
Can you tweet from multiple accounts simultaneously?   Yes with paid option

The paid option is an affordable $5 a month but that seems about right given what the tool offers.

8.  Twuffer

No
Can you tweet from multiple accounts simultaneously?  No

Nothing fancy, just easy to use.

9.  Twitter

Twitter has a schedule tweets option but they don’t talk it up because they want you to pay for the promoted tweet service.  If you want to tweet directly from Twitter, here is what you do:

Go to https://ads.twitter.com and click on Creatives/Tweets/Scheduled/Compose a Scheduled Tweet.  You’ll use the “Standard” option and select a day/time.  That’s all there is to it!  To see how your tweets are doing (all of them, not just the scheduled tweets), click the Analytics button.
